The aim and objective of the choir at that time, and indeed today, has been always been to foster a love of choral singing among Primary school pupils. Such was the success of the idea in 1985 that it has continued on a biannual basis. To date approx 80,000 children have performed at local level. The repertoire covers a wide variety of music sung in unison and harmony. The Choir culminates in the National Concert Hall in June, where representatives from all affiliated schools perform in a series of three concerts over three nights. St.Paul's Primary School have been involved with the National Children's Choir for many years now and are really looking forward to the local concerts for May 2003. To be involved in the National Children's Choir is a great experience for the children. However, hard work is the order of the day, as the selected songs must be known on the night. This will be the eight time that the children will be performing in the National Children's Choir; it is a repertoire of music and an artistic experience which will take with them far beyond their primary school, enabling them to develop artistically, musically and creatively.
